BICYCLE: Born in Covid Year — Core Lockdown Effects

The first years of life are crucial for the development of children's talking and thinking skills.

The BICYCLE study maps out whether being born-in-lockdown may have had effects on later talking and thinking. The study looks at children as they reach four years old.

The research team is led by Nicola Botting and Lucy Henry from City, University of London, and supported by funding from the Economic and Social Research Council.

The findings will help us to understand whether support strategies are needed for children born-in-lockdown.

The findings will also give us valuable insights about whether lockdowns had long-term effects on early childhood development.
