Language Revitalisation and Resistance in the Kariri-Xocó Community of Brazil

Language activists and teachers of the Indigenous Kariri-Xocó community are revitalising their language and traditional culture, once declared "extinct" by the government authorities. Working collaboratively with Indigenous community leaders alongside academic and NGO staff in Brazil, we aim to explore the sociolinguistic and political drivers of this extraordinary case of language emergence.
