The Arabic Language at Leeds PGR group was initiated in April 2016 by Janet C.E. Watson in response to the large number of students working on Arabic and related languages within LCS, Computing, Education and Media and Communication. The group was initiated to provide students with the chance to meet other PGRs working in the area, practise presentations, exchange ideas, identify specific training needs, and undergo area-specific training.
The PGR committee was formed in October 2017 and comprises: Dr Roberta Morano <r.morano@leeds.ac.uk> (lead organiser), Sarah Al-Mutairi <mlssa@leeds.ac.uk>, Nouran Khallaf <mlnak@leeds.ac.uk> and Malek Chaieb <mlmch@leeds.ac.uk>.
Any PGR working on any aspect of Arabic language is invited to contact members of the committee to attend the sessions or to offer a presentation. This is a great opportunity to practise a conference presentation, prepare for your upgrade or PhD viva, or suggest a training session.
The group hosts monthly Research Talks with PGRs and scholars from Europe, North America and the Middle East. If you wish to propose a research topic for discussion, please email r.morano@leeds.ac.uk
