The first PGR event of the 2025/26 academic year was successfully held by the Language@Leeds PGR Reps Mian Feng, Gergely Kajos, and Annabel Pickard on 13 November in the Michael Sadler Building at the University of Leeds.

We gathered an enthusiastic group of postgraduate researchers to explore how to communicate research clearly, confidently, and creatively, all through the power of a short, two-minute pitch.

Participants learned key takeaways on delivering an effective research pitch, then stepped up to the challenge by presenting their own! From refining key messages to answering audience questions and offering peer feedback, the session was full of insight, support, and lively discussion. Whether pitching for a conference, a collaboration, or simply explaining why your research matters, today reminded us that clarity and passion go hand in hand.

Huge thanks to everyone who joined us, both speakers and listeners, for making the event such a success! Many thanks to the L@L PGR group for organising this event.

Thank you to the School of Languages, Cultures and Societies (LCS)  and to Language@Leeds for funding this event.
