LITE Fellowship to enhance support for bilingual pupils

Helen Sadig (Language Centre) and Cecile De Cat (Linguistics & Phonetics) have been awarded an Excellence and Innovation Fellowship by the Leeds Institute for Teaching Excellence for 2018/19 for the project “Building a civic curriculum: Helping local schools better support EAL children through enhanced student impact and teacher CPD”. Helen will design a language training programme to maximise the effectiveness of the Students into Schools (SiS) scheme in terms of EAL support, and offer that training as a CPD opportunity for practitioners in schools. This project aims to achieve real civic impact in the local community and place language support firmly at the centre of the Students into Schools agenda.
