This is a call for expressions of interest from members of BAAL to join BAAL Language Learning and Teaching Special Interest Group (SIG), re-launched at BAAL Conference 2023 in York. See attached slides.

The SIG’s key aims are:

  • To facilitate networking between people who are interested in language teaching and learning
  • To bring together colleagues conducting research in language learning and teaching in the UK and abroad, at any stage of their career
  • To challenge and develop further current understanding of and current practice in language teaching and learning of all languages, in all settings, at all study levels
  • To find out more about the history of the SIG in this short video by Prof Ros Mitchell.

During our re-energisation phase (2023-2025), interested members will be invited to contribute to the development of the SIG Constitution (aims, organisation, procedure etc.), stand for election for key roles in the SIG Committee, including Convenor and Treasurer, and help in planning events for the first two years.

SIG elections will be held by November 2023.

Note that the SIG committee members must be full members of BAAL. Non-BAAL members may, however, also join the SIG.

To express your interest in joining the SIG, complete the expression of interest form by Friday 27th October, particularly if you would be interested in standing for a committee post.

Best regards
