The East Asian Translation research satellite at the University of Leeds cordially invites you to attend this unique symposium to be held on our campus on 17 September 2026.
Open to all, this event will offer something special for everyone and anyone interested in Korean literature. Through the rich programme, participants will learn about developments in Korean literature and its translation within the context of Hallyu, the global ‘Korean wave’.
Co-funded by the Literature Translation Institute of Korea and the School of Languages, Cultures and Societies (LCS) at the University of Leeds, this exciting event brings together award-winning leading Korean authors Kim Keum-hee and Hwang Bo-reum, internationally renowned literary translator Clare Richards and literature scholar Dr Eugene Kim (SOAS) for public readings of authors’ work, panel discussions, and audience engagement, creating meaningful opportunities for rich cross-cultural understanding and literary appreciation.
The registration fee is £15 for students and £25 for staff and members of the public. Lunch and afternoon refreshments will be provided. All who register will be sent full programme details and venue and other information in due course.
