Language@Leeds Event on Multimodality in Language Research

Date

Last week’s event for ECRs and PGRs, sponsored by the British Academy and organised by Janet Watson, Shirley-Anne Paul (Education), Sara Ramos Pinto (CTS), Cat Davies and Jack Wilson (both Linguistics), was a resounding success. The pre-conference workshops (on analysing multimodal data and on eye-tracking) and the conference attracted researchers from 15 universities within and around the White Rose / Red Rose region. The keynote speakers, Sotaro Kita from Warwick, and Mandana Seyfeddinipur from SOAS, London were inspirational. Paper presentations dealt with multimodal methods in language-related research within education, psychology, computing, linguistics, English, translation, human communication, and neurotology.
