Visiting close relatives: Exploiting similarities between related languages - 22nd January

Serge Sharoff and Janet Watson will be presenting: 'Visiting close relatives: Exploiting similarities between related languages' at the LHRI on 22nd January from 2-3pm.

Abstract:

Typological relationships between the languages have been studied for a long time, covering their morphology, grammar and lexicons. In this presentation our primary focus is the corpus link, presenting statistical investigations on the extent to which the languages are similar and different for the purposes of lexical analysis and language teaching. Our secondary focus concerns the practice of the use of related languages.
