The first Innovative Language Teaching in Higher Education was held as part of the centenary celebrations for language teaching at Newcastle University. Since then the conferences has annually grown and attracted an ever growing number of speakers and delegates to exchange new ideas and share best practise in Modern Language Teaching at Universities, foremost in Britain, but also abroad.

In 2014 the School of Modern Languages and Cultures at the University of Leeds will host the one-day conference. The focus this year is on enhancing student performance through various forms of teaching, student engagement in and outside if the classroom, use of modern technologies and so on.
